The Slave Trade Continues

France abolished the slave trade in 1817 and the last recorded French slave ships landed in Martinique in 1831. In 1826, the Comité pour l'abolition de la traite des Négres de la Société de la morale chrétienne (Committee for the Abolition of the Slave Trade of the Society for Christian Morals) published a small book denouncing the uninterrupted slave trade.
