Bethel Church

Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church was founded in 1794 by Rev. Richard Allen. This structure, finished in 1805, replaced the old church which was originally a blacksmith shop. This church is built on the oldest land continuously owned by African Americans in the entire country.
