Jeremiah Gloucester

Gloucester (1799-1827) was pastor of the Second African Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. His father, John, a former slave, had toured the U.S. and England to raise funds to free his wife and four children and had become pastor of the First African Presbyterian Church. Jeremiah and his three brothers studied ministry, and Jeremiah became pastor in of the Second Church in 1824.
