U.S. Brig Perry

The brig Perry was one of the ships of the African Squadron from 1850 to 1859. Matthew C. Perry was on the Cyane, the first ship of the African Squadron to be sent to Africa. He became commander of the African Squadron in 1843. The Squadron started its operations in 1820 and was taken off the African Coast in 1861 to help blockade the Southern ports during the Civil War.
